Description
LIFE
Hazrat Peer Abdool Latife Nazurally (R.A) was born in Mauritius at Latapie Road, Bon Accueil. He was married and had four daughters and one son. He left Bon Accueil with his family to settle in Triolet.
He began to work as a carter and later he associated himself with his brother to run a shop. He was a very religious person and used to attend religious activities such as Zikr and Urs. After he became a Moorid of Peer Juhoor Shah, he incurred a change in his spiritual behaviour and his craving to push forward in his spiritual exercise led him to retire in a remote place. He secluded himself at Nicoliere, in a forest called Bois Matte.
As a duty towards their father, the children brought food for him and deposited it at a certain spot for him to collect. However, the food remained unconsumed and there was no sign of their father neither in the forest nor outside. He had mysteriously disappeared.
Three years passed, Peer Juhoor Shah (R.A) returned from having performed Hajj. It was a great day for all the Moorids that made a point to meet their Moorshid. Among the Moorids, there was a strange and shoddy appearance with a long unattended beard. Surprisingly, Peer Juhoor Shah (R.A) welcomed him with a special attention, wash him, and made him look clean. He then gave him the name Mastan Sahab. By Allah’s wish, he had won the love of Allah and obtained the status of Peer.
MIRACLES
- Sonachor, a famous magician, challenge Peer Mastan Sahab (R.A) that he would be incapable of preventing him from entering his shop. Instead of locking the doors of his shop, Peer Mastan Sahab (R.A) left the door open all night for him. In the morning, the customers were surprised to see that the magician was trapped so tightly between the doors of the shop that he could not move at all.
- It was reported that one of his admirers, Sankar, a Hindu, saw him flying.
- It was reported that when someone proposed Peer Mastan Sahab (R.A) to accompany him to a certain place, he would tell the person to go alone, and he would join him later. The person set out for his journey and on arriving, he could see Peer Mastan Sahab (R.A) already there waiting for him.
