Hazrat Hasan ibn Hasan ibn Ali (A.S)

Hazrat Hasan ibn Hasan (R.A) was born in Medina in 661 AD. He was a son of Hasan ibn Ali (R.A) and Khawla bint Manzur (R.A). His father, Hasan (R.A), was the son of Hazrat Ali ibn Abi Talib (R.A) who was the cousin of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

LINEAGE

Hazrat Hasan ibn Hasan (R.A) was born in Medina in 661 AD. He was a son of Hasan ibn Ali (R.A) and Khawla bint Manzur (R.A). His father, Hasan (R.A), was the son of Hazrat Ali ibn Abi Talib (R.A) who was the cousin of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). His father Hasan ibn Ali (R.A) ruled briefly as caliph in 661 and was a grandson of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Hasan’s mother Khawla bint Manzur (R.A) was a daughter of Manzur ibn Zaban, the chieftain of the Banu Fazara. Hazrat Hasan ibn Hasan (R.A) was also the father-in-law of Umayyad caliph al-Walid I.

 

LIFE

Hazrat Hasan ibn Hasan (R.A) was an Islamic scholar and theologian. In the battle of Karbala, he fought beside Imam Hussain (R.A). He was injured and kept as a captive. His maternal uncle, Asma’ ibn Kharijah Fazari, saved him. He was cured in Kufa; and after recovering, he returned to Medina.

Hasan ibn Hasan’s (R.A) uncle Hussain ibn Ali (R.A) reportedly offered him to choose either of Hussain’s two daughters Sukayna (R.A) and Fatima (R.A), to be his wife. Hasan, who was too shy to accept, consequently chose Fatima (R.A), as she resembled his grandmother Fatima al-Zahra (R.A).

 

LEGACY

Hazrat Hasan ibn Hasan (R.A) inherited the legacy of bravery and courage that characterized his family. He was raised in an environment deeply rooted in Islamic teachings and principles, under the guidance of his father, Imam Hasan (R.A).
