Hazrat Peer Aboo Bakar Shah (R.A)
Famously known in Mauritius as Dada Peer Abu Bakr Shah (R.A), he came to Mauritius in around 1890. He was a successful businessman in buying, renovating, and selling small houses.
A short while after, he met his spiritual guide (Peer Murshid) Peer Syed Zahur Shah (R.A). He became his disciple and reduced his business commitments to meet only his family’s needs.

LIFE
Famously known in Mauritius as Dada Peer Abu Bakr Shah (R.A), he came to Mauritius in around 1890. He was a successful businessman in buying, renovating, and selling small houses. He noticed that Mauritians would use a lot of charcoal in the kitchen and decided to import it in large quantities to be sold in small amounts. His business prospered, he got married, and was blessed with children.
A short while after, he met his spiritual guide (Peer Murshid) Peer Syed Zahur Shah (R.A). He became his disciple and reduced his business commitments to meet only his family’s needs.
LEGACY
His Mazar is in Port Louis on the southwest side of Cassis Road. His dargah Shareef is opened on Monday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (closed for Jumu’ah). On Sunday, it is opened from 10:00 am to noon. His urs is held on the 2nd of Rajab.
