Hazrat Abu Bakr ibn Ali (R.A)

Hazrat Abu Bakr ibn Ali (R.A) was born in 658 AD, to Ali ibn Abi Talib (R.A), cousin of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). His teknonym was Abu Bakr. According to some sources, his mother was Layla bint Mas’ud (R.A), the daughter of Mas’ud al-Nahshali.

LINEAGE

Hazrat Abu Bakr ibn Ali (R.A) was born in 658 AD, to Ali ibn Abi Talib (R.A), cousin of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). According to sources, his name was Abd Allah, Ubayd Allah, or Muhammad. His teknonym was Abu Bakr. According to some sources, his mother was Layla bint Mas’ud (R.A), the daughter of Mas’ud al-Nahshali.

 

LIFE

Hazrat Abu Bakr ibn Ali (R.A) was martyred at the Battle of Karbala. According to some scholars, a man from the Hamdan tribe martyred him. However, some scholars hold that Abu Bakr’s (R.A) corpse was found in a creek, and so it is not known who martyred him. According to some sources, his grave is located in the mass grave of Hashimid martyrs in the Holy Shrine of Imam al-Hussain near his burial place.

It is stated that Abu Bakr (R.A) was the first of Imam Ali’s (R.A) children who fought on the battlefield of Karbala to support his brother, Hussain ibn Ali (R.A).
