Hazrat Muhammad al-Asghar ibn Ali (R.A) was born to Hazrat Ali ibn Abi Talib (R.A), cousin of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). There are different mentions of his mother’s name, such as Layla bint Mas’ud, Umama bint Abi al-As, Warha’ and Asma bint Umais.
LIFE
Muhammad al-Asghar (R.A) was smaller than Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyya (R.A). Muhammad ibn Ali (R.A) had a hard war with his brother’s (Imam Hussain (R.A)) enemies and killed many of Kufa’s army. Eventually, a man from Bani Aban ibn Darim killed him. There are many sources which consider him among the martyrs of Karbala. He died in the Battle of Karbala in 680 AD.
