Hazrat Umar ibn Ali (R.A)
Umar ibn Ali (R.A) was born to Hazrat Ali ibn Abi Talib (R.A), a cousin of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Some historical sources reported the name of his mother as Al-Sahba (Umm Habib) (R.A), daughter of Rabi’a al-Taghlibi. Some others have mentioned her name as Layla bt Mas’ud al-Darami. Some scholars mentioned that Umar (R.A) was the youngest child of Imam Ali (R.A).

LINEAGE
Umar ibn Ali (R.A) was born to Hazrat Ali ibn Abi Talib (R.A), a cousin of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Some sources have mentioned Umar as Umar al-Akbar (R.A) whose teknonym was Abu al-Qasim or Abu Hafs. Some historical sources reported the name of his mother as Al-Sahba (Umm Habib) (R.A), daughter of Rabi’a al-Taghlibi. Some others have mentioned her name as Layla bt Mas’ud al-Darami. Some scholars mentioned that Umar (R.A) was the youngest child of Imam Ali (R.A).
LIFE
It is reported that Umar (R.A) made war cries at the Battle of Karbala and attacked the enemy. He attacked Zahr, the killer of his brother, and killed him. A jurist named Akhtab Khwarazm reported his martyrdom after the martyrdom of his brother Abu Bakr ibn Ali (R.A). It is said that first, his horse fell and then they martyred him.

While specific details about the life of Hazrat Umar ibn Ali (R.A) are not as extensively documented as his brothers, his association with the Ahl al-Bayt and his upbringing in their household certainly left a profound influence on him.
